When Stupidity defies its own boundearies
I’ve always believed in the notion of never under-estimating the power of stupid people in large numbers. Contrary to what conventional wisdom will suggest, a collection of stupid folks can unleash the most unpredictable results, but every once in a while, there are cases that defy the very boundearies that we are prepared to tolerate.
Take the story of this group of Chinese folks.
About 20 folks were conned into believing they were now citizens of the UK with a lavish ceremony, national anthem, loyalty pledge, and a fake Home Secretary to boot. How is it possible that folks can be stupid enough to pay a premium of £20,000 for the privlige of being a subject of Aunt Liz? Forget I asked…..Maybe there’s some really stupid folks out there.
But you’ve got to admire the entreprenurial spirit of the conman who literally staged a believable citizenship ceremony right outside the Palace of Westminster – and even conned actors to be fake immigration officials, a fake government minister and fake security guards…You’ve got to love it.
Just for the sheer audacity of this stunt, it was a shame that the conman didn’t get away with it. and just for the sheer stupidity of these 20 Chinese folks, they should have lost all their money.

people say that neivity is a virtue but in many cases it is a disease. And its like you are born with it but unlike pissing your pants, you live with it and die with it. Maybe if you follow these peoples’ life stories, you may find out that this is not the first time that they have been conned. This neivity is the same disease nigerian hackers use to steal from people year in year out

@KT…
I wouldn’t be surprised if them folks had already unleashed thousands in pursuit of other publicly available services. Ignorance kills…literally.
The theme I’ve used for this blog is a free theme that’s publicly available, though I’ve customized and coded some of it to my own taste and removed a lot of standard stuff to brand it. I’ve emailed you the theme details and download page.

I read the story…..I have no words…
Surely just because a person is not a citizen of a country..does that give them the right to leave common sense at the door? But then again, mebe they weren’t that educated…so I feel sorry for them.
Howdy Mr Stone..

Howdy my dear Val. Hope you’ve been well.
As for these Chinese clowns, I have absolutely no sympathy. There is no excuse for this degree of ignorance, gullibility and stupidity. I think they deserved to lose all their money. One of them even told the court that he had seen the fake Home Secretary on TV – plausible for an actor, but someone should have noted that the Home Secretary at the time was female.

I read the article and laughed out loud. Then I read the last sentence on your response to Val and I laughed “the one higher than laughing out loud.”
Can someone give Mr. Li a high-five for me!!!!!!!!And then those “nationals” need to slap each other. Desperate- yes. But dear Lord. If I applied for something like that and someone called “Mr.Ngasha, Mr.Sematimba, Mr.Nkini……was officiating. I would smell a rat. Mr.Li, I do not care of he had been naturalised or born in this country but give me someone called Jones!!!!!!!!
Alaafu, how do you get a passport and VISA!!!!!!!!!Visa to where? Had they already applied to some place that they actually need a visa (with a British passport!) and then when did home office start issuing visas to places?Sii if they have given you a UK passport, that is it. Ama they needed visas to now go to Wales? How now?
No, I am not done.
Can Mr.Li tell me where he got the picture of Aunt Liz to put up? I may one day want to line up all my presidents on a wall in my house and I can add Aunt Liz on the end. The way they do in shops at home. Ama he photocopied her picha from a twenty pound note?
WAIT……………WAIT………..These Chinese people did not find it odd that only chinese people were getting naturalised on this day? I have many questions. But I will go now. I am starting up some form of services errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr “for free NHS I don’t know what” but you have to pay a deposit of JUST 500 pounds. Please spread the word. The Secretary for Health will be my receptionist.

LOL 3TOC….
I’m glad you see the enterprise opportunities that stupidity presents….
I’m kinda sad the stunt didn’t work – it deserved too…LOL! I agree with you, I don’t see anyone but Smith or Jones being a Home Secretary…but then again, Obama made it to the white house – so its theoretically possible for one of the most powerful offices of state to be occupied by an immigrant.
