I'll not knock your enthusiasm for BBC radio as I also listen to it (well, sometimes world service or PM) when travelling to and from work...so relax.

The more I hear the witness accounts, the more I get depressed. There's just something about these fires that have got to me - and to think that some of them were started deliberately.

Maybe its the thought of 2 or 3 generations of a family being wiped out in a matter of seconds....

Comment by <a href="http://threetypesofcrazy.wordpress.com" rel="nofollow">3TOC</a> on 09.02.2009 at 10.15 pm

Today on BBC radio2 -Th Jeremy Vine show (don't even think about it saying anything!)- they were talking about how people managed to escape and also about those that did not- whole families burnt in cars as they tried to get away,

there was this lady (British who moved there)who said she was out playing with her kids in the garden and then it suddenly felt like someone had placed a hair dryer against her face (the heat) fortunately for her, her neighbour recognised (for lack of a better word) the kin of heat and told them there must be a forest fire nearby, they need to leave the place and as they jumped into the car to drive off, they looked back to see their house in flames (HOW FAST MUST THAT HAVE BEEN?).And one of a man who jumped into a dam to save himself from catching fires. Okay let me just allow you to go to the BBC website and hear the stories for yourself HUH?!

Okay wait, one more.On there, there is this guy an expert of sorts who explains why the fires have been so bad. The place is dry and most of the trees are eucalyptus which are oily which makes every thing worse.

It is so sad. It made me shut up about that stuff which is falling outside my window right now.All these disasters that we have no control over........besides the doomsday type people, can anyone explain.Do you remember being shocked by Katrina and how this State looked so third world after that? How do we sing stem cell research and something as small as a snow flake halts the CBD, something as small as a spark of fire DESTROYS more than one generation of a family of families in one sweep? Is this truly an act of God? Sii they call these things that. Okay

maybe there are more questions than answers. By the way how did we explain away the tsunami, who moved? what plates? Haya, what is it they say retrospect has 20/20 vision.

Okay this is not a comment anymore it is now a post LOL.
Has anyone read the book Black swan? Okay I am going for real this time.
